The largest single container terminal in the Western Hemisphere — and one of the fastest-growing seaports in the U.S.
Managed by the Georgia Ports Authority, the Port of Savannah connects businesses to global markets with a rare balance of scale and customer attention.
Gateway to global markets, from a river that acts like a highway.
The Port of Savannah sits along the Savannah River in southeastern Georgia, just 18 miles inland from the Atlantic. Its strategic position makes it easily accessible to ships coming in from the ocean and to trucks and trains headed to Atlanta, Augusta, and Macon.
Originally established in 1733 as a colonial seaport, the port has grown into the largest single container terminal in the Western Hemisphere. During FY 2022 it moved 5.8 million TEUs — an 8.1% year-over-year increase.
Beyond containers, Savannah runs a diverse mix of RoRo, breakbulk, and specialized services, backed by ongoing investment in technology and terminal expansion.
