Why Virginia

The deepest water harbor on the U.S. East Coast.

The Port of Norfolk sits adjacent to I-564, I-64, and Hampton Boulevard, splitting into three major sections: the Central Rail Yard, the North Terminal, and the South Terminal. Norfolk International Terminals is the largest terminal in the Virginia Port Authority, with 4,230 linear feet at NIT South and 2,400 linear feet at NIT North.

The Port of Virginia operates six terminals: Newport News Marine Terminal, Norfolk International Terminals, Virginia International Gateway, Richmond Marine Terminal, Portsmouth Marine Terminal, and the Virginia Inland Port. Nearly 30 international shipping lines run direct service to and from Virginia, moving roll-on/roll-off, breakbulk, tanker, bulk, and international container vessels.

It’s the only U.S. port with Congressional authorization for 55-foot depth channels, currently operating 50-foot channels and berths with 26 Suez-class ship-to-shore cranes port-wide.
